The way I remedy this is by layering them over a lip balm, usually the Dr. I don’t know about you, but if I’m signing up for that kind of mild discomfort, I’d rather go for full-on liquid lipstick pigmentation. They go on balmy at first, then dry down to a comfortable matte, and then suck every ounce of moisture from my lips like some sort of moisture vampire as the day goes on. (On A Stick is worst for patchiness and line-emphasis, as you can see above.) Also, these are not super comfy to wear. Even if I exfoliate, it tends to settle into the lines.
What really irritates me about these is that they emphasize every line, every bit of texture on my lips. Plus, it’s summer and I’m lazy, so perfectly imperfect makeup is fine by me. These bad boys are pretty patchy in the application department, but that’s no problem because I can build them up to get a more-or-less even finish. On A Stick is a punchy, just-ate-a-cherry-popsicle colour.Īlthough I really like the shades I picked, I quickly discovered why the matte + sheer colour combo is not more common (and why most brands do sheer and glossy lippies instead). I like it, but wish it had a little bit more orange in it.ĭrip is the shade I reach for most of the three – it’s a mauve-y, MLBB situation that goes with every makeup look and I’m so here for it. They retail for $5 each, so I picked up three shades: Candy Floss, Drip, and On A Stick.Ĭandy Floss is a peachy nude on me. As someone who spent her childhood pretending popsicles were lipstick and deliberately trying to stain her lips with them, I was like hey, sign me the heck up.
It’s a combination that I don’t think has been done elsewhere (or at the very least isn’t popular enough for me to have tried it before).ĬolourPop’s Blotted Lips promise sheer colour with a matte finish for a popsicle-stained effect. They came out with a pretty unique combination, actually: lipsticks that are matte and sheer. It had sheer pigmentation in one layer, which was buildable to semi-sheer. The consistency felt smooth, velvety, and lightweight with a thin consistency that was just the right side of thin (aka not clingy yet). Between mattes, satins, and glosses of various opacities, we’re pretty much set, right?ĬolourPop – the innovators they are – didn’t think so. ColourPop Talker Blotted Lip (2021) (8.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, dusty coral with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. When it comes to lip products, I feel like we’ve got all the bases covered.
